Xplore: Playful learning and digital creativity with Xbrick!

With the Xplore app, Xbrick becomes the gateway to new worlds – a combination of movement, teamwork and Augmented Reality (AR). Whether in class, in workshops or as an activity in museums, planetariums, science centers or media centers: Xplore is the perfect complement to physical play with Xbrick. It opens up completely new possibilities for active, creative and playful learning.

What is Xplore and what makes the app special?

Digital and real worlds united:

Xplore is an immersive app that we developed specifically for Xbrick. It runs on your iPad and (of course) works best with Xbrick.

With Xplore, Xbrick becomes an interactive medium. The app recognizes your Xbrick constructions and seamlessly integrates them into a digital world of experience – for a fascinating AR experience that excitingly complements learning and playing.

Topic: Space and the solar system.

Like in an escape room, tasks in the app are solved with (physical) Xbrick. Since a lot of it involves understanding sizes and geometries, the app trains spatial perception in real space. In order to solve the tasks, communication and cooperation between the students is required. And of course everything happens in motion, because the lightweight Xbrick always has to be set up differently.

What do you need to play?

Xplore app:

free download for tablets. The app is specially developed for iPads and uses the camera to recognize the Xbrick with markers.

Xbrick set:

Xbrick set (9 pieces) – for full fun, best in all colors, see set (link to the new set follows)

Xplore marker band:

If you like the gaming experience, then order robust and brilliantly colored textile marker sleeves here that you can simply pull over your Xbrick (permanently or repeatedly).

To the test: If you don’t have Xbrick yet but want to test Xplore, that’s of course possible too. Since the markers also work without Xbrick®, you can only play with the printed markers. For example, attach these to chairs, attach them to the board or simply place them on the table. With this you can solve the task “Solar System” and get an idea of Xplore.
Test Xplore without any equipment: Try out the AR functionality without any equipment and just ‘just’ explore the virtual spaceport.
